The Law Offices of Ruben Salazar successfully promoted its inaugural
“Community Services Day” on October 28, 2006 at Plaza De La Raza in Fontana, CA. It went forward without a hitch and provided valuable services and information to the community.
The intent of the first annual community event of 2006 was to empower the local community and promote and encourage its immigrants to become full-fledged US citizens to reap the legal, economic, political and social benefits that flows from that special status in American society. In essence, to “Americanize” the local Latino citizenry and empower them with the ownership of voting rights and property.
Throughout the day, Mr. Salazar sponsored the giving out of free food, snacks, drinks, merchandise, prizes, and helped provide free legal and professional
advice to the Fontana Latino community.
Time was taken out to meet and greet local political dignitaries who made special personal appearances at the event, such as
California Assemblyman Joe Baca Jr. and San Bernardino County Supervisor Josie Gonzales, as well as two representatives from U.S. Congressman Joe Baca.
The Citizenship Drive
The Law offices of Ruben Salazar provided a free citizenship forum and free legal information on how and why to become a citizen. As advertised, the first 5 attendees got their citizenship packets done for free! Many other legal questions from the community were addressed.
Mr. Salazar took Assemblyman Baca Jr., County Supervisor Gonzales, and both representatives from U.S. Congressman Joe Baca, on tours of his new business complex know as Plaza De La Raza, offering it as a possible venue for future political fund-raising events.
The Job Fair
The San Bernardino County Workforce Development Department and AVER Employment Center provided free information on part and full time jobs, government jobs, local jobs, and career opportunities in education, engineering, technology and production.
The Real Estate Workshop
Bank of America and Cal Star Real Estate provided free information on what a mortgage is, how to pre-qualify for a loan, how to re-finance an existing loan,
and how and where to buy a home within a budget and income.
The next event planned by the Law Offices of Ruben Salazar is a “Legalization Day,” to be coordinated along with a medical/health fair and education loan workshop.
Until then, check out the following photos from our successful citizenship drive of 2006.
